A debut EP release from Medellin in Colombia. ‘Assault to the Coffin’ is Death Metal quartet Graveyard Wind’s first foray into the savage world of both horror and existentialism! Featuring four tracks and opening with mournful gusty tones and strong guitar leads, Graveyard Winds are soon rampaging through a sturdy sounding bout of Death Metal; created using an orthodox if unspectacular drumming style, mixed with the constant rumble of bass and a lot of intricate guitar patterns that weave around solid riffs. Whilst all of this pounds on at its own pace, vocalist Klisgor keeps busy by laying down some savage, meaty growls. Truly though, the power of this release is based in the guitars, especially the intricate and winding rhythms.

Those are my impressions of opening track ‘The Fetid Wave’, and they do sum up the whole EP, though the opening stanza of ‘’Misfortune’ with its slower, more calculating groove does showcase a band who think hard about their song craft. ‘Assault to the Coffin’ is a solid, honest slab of aggressive Death Metal, performed in a workmanlike way but with great promise for future endeavours in terms of both musicianship and song writing.
