Powerviolence – a mucho macho compound noun. The kind of word that my wife mocks when I come back from the gym and tell her what exercises or machine I have been using. “Oh angry bear dragthroughs, assault bikes and hammerstrength pulldowns. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! “

Powerviolence is also a genre that gets people arguing on the interwebs. Who is? Who isn’t? What is? Is it too core? Isi it too metal? Too grind too hot, too soft or just right.

Well these Baldilocks loves ACxDC. Yeah the name is hilarious and baits much of the rock and metal world but they fucking crush on record. “Satan is King” was one of the best albums of 2020 – even though upon checking it was not in my list. I guess I didn’t give it a listen until 2021 like a slowpoke.

Anyhoo here we are in 2024 and AntiChrist DemonCore (to give them the name their mums call them when they are in trouble) are back with G.O.A.T, and it’s a fucking belter.

There are a host of special guests on vocals Henry and Roger from No/Mas, Alex Jones from Undeath have a track each. Then there is the interestingly named Galaxy Eater from Greenwitch and the phenomenal Elliot Morrow from the much missed Gulch.

This is not about special guests and props to fellow scensters. This album is just chock a block with big riffs, nasty blasts and head-pounding chugs. Add into this the ability to right a song that stays in your head after it has finished and a great sense of humour and this is yet another extreme classic.

From the opening Stand By Me referencing “Wanna See a Dead Body?” onwards it is a rip roaring, by the seat of your pants adrenaline charged thrill ride. I loved every minute of it. 17 tracks blister by in under 30 mins but each track has enough time to make an impression and get under your skin.

This album is like having a Jacuzzi in sulphuric acid or being a mento in a bottle of coke. I feel effervescent and spent at the end of each play. I have listened to it a further three times whilst writing this, stopping to stomp and flail my hands around mid sentence.  Hardcore kids, death heads, crowd killers, bedroom moshers and old baldy blokes and chicks press play and let go! Get your GOAT on!

Stop reading this and go buy the album.
