Sulfuric are an aggressive Black/Thrash band from Halmstad in Sweden, and they feature two members of Punk/Speed Metal band Burning Noize Machine. ‘Into the Darkness’ is Sulfuric’s debut album and has been given a CD release by fellow Swedish label, Iron Fist Productions.

This is an album that feels like it has been split into three parts. The first three tracks are roaring hell rides of savage pandemonium. They’re all about fast riffs, faster beats and raw guttural vocals; not to mention lashings on groove drenched punishing bass tones. These opening tracks really set a nasty and obnoxious tone for the band to build upon.

Tracks four through to six are the albums more interesting tracks. Title track ‘Into the Darkness’ is the track of the album; it’s catchy, fun and uncompromisingly filthy. Track five is an instrumental interlude aptly named ‘Darkness’, because this is a couple of minutes of pure malevolence and lurking evil! And then there is ‘Convulsion’, easily the rawest track of the album; this one is a gnarly brute of in your face reverb soaked aggression.

The final stanza is tracks seven through to nine, and these are the songs where Sulfuric open the taps on their creativity and produce longer, more expansive bouts of brutality. The album finishes off with ‘R.O.D’ (Rebels of Darkness) and just in that title you know everything you need to know about this barbaric, unpolished and menacing band.
