‘Total Heresy’ by Trinitas is total raw and demonic black metal from the opening growls and swirling winds to the diabolical and dirty compositions which build the structure of the tracks which are housed in the latest release from this European satanic squad.

The string work is powerful and commanding throughout, seeming to propel the bass and drum signatures with might and force and creating a mesmerising infernal vehicle on which to ply their murky wares. Trinitas are in their infancy, however this isn’t shown in the maturity and development of the tracks on ‘Total Heresy’. Each track is complex and developed in their makeup, switching between frantic and frenetic pummelling to controlled and reserved punchy chords and beats. The vocals are tortured and pained at times, but this all adds to the atmosphere created within the nine tracks of pure decadent black metal.

‘Supernova Lucifer’ is a standout track for me and one which encompasses all of the Trinitas traits with luxurious depravity. The vocals are venomous and aged yet spat out with passion and vengeance while the rest of the band conjure up a beast of a backbone on which the words sit on top of. The track is less agitated than some of its album siblings, but this only adds to the muscle and supremacy which it exudes.

The album seems to build as it progresses, morphing into complex and robust tracks which propel you into an entranced state, unable to swerve your attention away from the speakers and seeming to be able to only give this aural deliverance your full undivided attention.

This is a mere toddler in the raw and bleak black metal landscape but do not let this direct you away from carving it open and delivering it to your senses, give it the attention it commands, and you will not be disappointed.
