Wolves Of Perdition hold the tag line of ferocious black metal and the latest offering from these Finns is nothing short of brutal and barbaric. I guess the clue to the package you are about to present your soul at the alter for lies in the moniker ‘Ferocious Blasphemic Warfare’ and it truly is out and out warfare on your senses.

The opening spine chilling inaudible ‘noise’ on the album opener ‘Veniunt’ comes accompanied by some spoken word around a very topical subject of a virus. This creates the chilling atmosphere for the rest of the album to carve you open wide and ‘Demon Blood’ then launches you into the pit with the hungry wolves baying for your blood.

The work of Hellpriest and The End on the 6 strings is intricate and raucous and the melody from the fretboards is constant and unnerving yet distinguished and catchy at times. The vocals from Varjo sit astride the music akin of a triumphant victorious Beelzebub astride his hordes of slain subjects. Khal’Uzi 666 keeps the track on course, audibly working at a rate of knots alongside Varjos bass lines to keep their stringed siblings from wandering off the path on their own agenda.

The album is constructed of a massive 13 tracks and whilst each has the same venomous and malevolent immoral sound, each differs slightly in the pace and presentation of its deliverance.

‘And Pain It Shall Be’ stands out as a particularly speedy little number. The tempo of the melody is turned up a notch and Varjo is keeping pace well with the ability to still spit out the vocals with sadistic intent and hatred.

Another track worthy of notoriety is ‘Tempestate Lucifer’ which has a beautiful injection of peace and calm mid track and this is the perfect respite amongst all the madness. The 6 strings showcase a complete turn in direction and exhibit flawless intricacy and harmony before we are blasted back to the raw and vitriolic tirade of violence.

‘Deus Et Mortus’ opens us up to an ending which proceeds with some harrowing screaming assembled around the bells tolling amidst the crackling of fire and what I’m assuming to be crows cawing in the distance.

This is raw unapologetic satanic black metal at its finest. It delivers uncompromising and fierce black arts which will penetrate your very soul and leave you hungry for more. Light the candles, set the incense going and enjoy !
