My introduction to Metal and all things alternative came at the age of 11. I was already beginning to enjoy music and was soon pointed in the direction of Iron Maiden and Motorhead. A love of music developed from here delving into all manner of genres over the years as well as regularly attending gigs. By the time I was 16 I moved onto the heavier side of the Metallic die. It was at this point that I also wanted to give something back to the music world, I'd already failed at playing an instrument and so looked to reviewing. I started a YouTube channel in 2010 under the name ThatzNOTmetaL and over the next 5 years created a wealth of content, my music taste however was still expanding. After numerous changes and so forth I diversified into written media via a short lived e-zine called Eargore which in 2016 became a blog called Gore Crazy. Over the years I've learnt a lot about music and reviewing in general, so really I've now got my wish to give something back to the world of music that I adore.

Molder- Engrossed In Decay (Prosthetic)

Having formed in 2017 the Illinois based Death Metal act Molder have certainly been putting a lot of effort into getting to where they are today. Kicking off their career with a slew of live records (something I particularly like… Continue Reading →

Texas Murder Crew – Wrapped In Their Blood (Comatose)

Texas is a definite hub for some huge Brutal Death Metal talent, Devourment and Viral Load particularly spring to mind. However, we can always do with some fresh faces on the scene and this time we’re talking about Texas Murder… Continue Reading →

Gronibard – Regarde Les Hommes Sucer (Season Of Mist)

Quite a few years back I never really registered Grind, or at least subgenres of Grind like Porno, Gore and Noise as music I would enjoy. I don’t really know why, I mean I loved the comedy element of Slam,… Continue Reading →

Epitaphe – II (Aesthetic Death)

It’s nice when those little surprises pay off. As a teenager blind buying was commonplace for me, now in the digital age and with a wealth of Metal knowledge (if I do say so myself) there isn’t much I’m surprised… Continue Reading →

Corpsessed – Succumb To Rot (Dark Descent)

Sometimes I think that modern Death Metal, like standard Death Metal can be a bit boring. It’s kind of like replicating something which already blew up in a less exciting fashion. Similar to the modern Thrash boom that appeared spearheaded… Continue Reading →

Dark Funeral – We Are The Apocalypse (Century Media)

I’ve spoken in the past about how I dislike the whole thought process of catchy is lame or false, it’s simply not the case. Music is there to be enjoyed and as pathetic as it sounds sometimes that means I… Continue Reading →

Feaces Christ – Gimme Morgue (FDA Records)

The Metal or Punk divide is a great struggle for me, I mean don’t get me wrong it’s not like the two tribes are at war with one another but they seem reluctant to co-exist sometimes. I love classic 70s… Continue Reading →

Blood Incantation – Timewave Zero (Century Media)

I’ve most likely touched on it many times before but music for sleep is very important to me. I love putting on Post-Rock, Ambient and even Noise to sleep to, it soothes my soul and means that I can get… Continue Reading →

Troglodyte – The Hierarchical Ecological Succession: Welcome To The Food Chain (Blood Blast)

I’m a sucker for gimmicks and the paranormal / weird, so the band we’re talking about today tick a lot of boxes for me. Basically, I probably know more about totally useless UFO history than I do real world history…. Continue Reading →

Eight Bells – Legacy Of Ruin (Prophecy)

We face a musical crisis in this world, and that crisis is atmospheric music, whether it be the ambient works of Brian Eno or the Post-Rock mastery of Godspeed You! Black Emperor it’s something which is a massive part of… Continue Reading →

Defechate – Unbounded (Great Dane Records)

Going in for albums such as today’s record is always quite a funny experience. In part I’m holding on to the days of constantly discovering top tier Death Metal. On the other hand I’m just going in for blind Extreme… Continue Reading →

The Last Of Lucy – Moksha (Transcending Obscurity)

My love for Tech Death has certainly dwindled in the last year or so, I still love the genre but I don’t care about it like I once did. I’m basically far more critical of the genre now. However, this… Continue Reading →
