I’ve had this conversation with other Metalheads before, but do you ever get the feeling that nothing surprises you any more? I certainly do, don’t get me wrong I still find bands I really like but I’m always a little bit downtrodden when they claim to be super heavy or something. I guess that’s why I’ve been looking into Classic Rock more in recent years, it’s more exciting to me. One such band who I can safely say are massive in sound though are our Floridian maniacs for today.

Those madmen are of course Caveman Cult. A mysterious yet crushing entity who dropped a bombshell of a record in 2016 entitled Savage War Is Destiny (a great name by the way). This debut put them on the map but certainly there was still more to prove. In comes the latest and indeed second full length from the band, put out through Nuclear War Now! Productions it’s time for Blood And Extinction!

The opening title track with all that fuzz and filth is utterly perfect, sickening Blackened Metalpunk War filth and I’m all about it. Distorted to the point of it just being straight Noise and then going into this under produced mess of drums, guitars and bass with a few riffs chucked in and some punchy harsh vocals, killer. It even has time to throw in some vocal hooks, this is a fresh take. Eternal Warfare keeps it going with those Slayer-esque guitar licks and plenty more War Metal aggression, literally if I could be in a band it would be one like Caveman Cult, dissonant, violent, noisy, sloppy and to me the pure ethos of underground music. I’m legit all about this and love the Grind injection of Conquistador De Hierro and Violencia Arraigada, pure disgust.

Plunder And Bondage gives us even more sickness, love the shrieking vocals in this one they’re like the stuff of nightmares, this is as huge as War Metal gets. What follows are more all-out barrages of destruction, including Cannibal Feast which has some really naughty riffs and plenty of vile vocals. Honestly Caveman Cult really are the full package when it comes to eardrum destroying Metal violence. Closing track Bestial Carnage is a full assault of madness and a brilliant exit for this short snappy display of devastation.

Unholy hellfire! This is some top tier Extreme Metal, I do have a real soft spot for this kind of music and Caveman Cult pretty much do everything I want them too. Condensed into under thirty minutes this album wastes no time at all and provides a huge hit of powerful songwriting, even blurring the lines between Noise and War Metal which I think is something we really could and should stand to see more of in the coming years. The genres are inexorably linked and Caveman Cult do every justice to it.
