Recently resurrected Russian label Wroth Emitter were created under the name Wroth Prod back in 1993 and have come back from the dead. Fittingly it is death that we look at here with three bands dishing up differing varieties on this split album. I like the way they all have their individual covers included with this promo CD along with the main artwork, it gives them all more of a sense of identity even if they are all of what can only be described as rather ghoulish.
First up we are to Spain, although certainly not for any form of holiday as it has all gone a bit confusing for us there and on amber alert due to infection. Looking at the hideous creatures on their recent Slaves Of Decay EP, which is what we get here, its far from sunny and gone distinctly Omega Man out there. Impur drop off an E rather than get lumped in with a plethora of other bands with that particular moniker and get downright catchy with their three numbers which are all old-school in origin but quite melodic and accessible. ‘Slaves Of Decay’ itself romps out the traps and bites hard, rolling and rollicking away with some groove laden histrionics no doubt spurred on by the guitar work of a Hellevorn / Devouring member in their ranks. Growler Edgar gives a coarse rendition via his vocal accompaniment and there are some neat flailing guitar signatures soloing around this pummelling headbanger. Taking in bits of everything from Entombed through to Carcass and Obituary on ‘Infinite Curse’ we rot and roll through their numbers which all have a snappy immediacy about them and make you want more of the same. It seems that this is all Impur have recorded to date though; hopefully they will be back with more soon.

Russia next and there we will remain for the duration. Sadistic Demise looking at the artwork are there to snuff your lights out and butcher the unsuspecting on ‘The Way Of Sadistic.’ This differs a little from their recent ‘Your Chosen Ways’ EP but contains many of the same tracks here albeit in different order. Only active since 2020 and including members of Impress, Burden Of Hatred and Derogatory as we are invited to be ‘Born In The Blood Swamp’ it’s evident that the gurgling vocals and grinding sound here are much more slimy and foul. There’s some sharp guitar squeals, screaming out and the battery is primitive and feral with some slower doomy tempos injected for good measure. At their most rigorous the likes of ‘A Sudden Suicide’ are a self-administered shotgun blast to the head and we continue down the path through 5 tracks ultimately ending up on the slab for a ‘Violent Autopsy’, a bone and neck snapper of a number. Suitably Dismembered in more ways than one this is ugly stuff in the way that it counts and one for those who like their death delivered without a shred of pity or mercy.

It seems a little odd dredging up the next Unidentified Corpse and their sole EP ‘Domination Of Dying People’ here, as it was released back in 2013. I guess the main reason is that these Russian’s also include the drummer of Sadistic Demise and according to metal archives their status is currently unknown. Crikey the production here is loud and the drums bounce around like they are being hit on skulls. It’s the vocals that get attention here on opener ‘Invalid Killer’ amidst the stalk and slash carnage as they have those pig squeals and warthog growls matched up about them, creating what sounds like a right old barnyard cacophony. These may not be to everyone’s taste in the slightest but I can just about handle them over 7 tracks even if they may be stretching themselves at the three minute or so mark each. Some of that time is taken by samples and as we go into ‘Liquidation Of Limbs’ this is HG Lewis style DM, brutal, bloody and with facets of goregrind, limited production to boot. At times it’s verging on the preposterous and its hard not to laugh or even cry along to it all. I guess this one is a bit of a relic right down to the appropriate final track ‘Swine Flu.’ Still both music and pandemics have moved along in the last 8 years but nothing wrong with looking back with nostalgia.
