This EP is the fifth release by the Texan thrash band from San Antonio. The trio, comprising of founding members vocalist/rhythm guitarist Derek Jones and drummer Mike Cortes, along with bassist and now also lead guitarist Tristan Hernandez have continued to record and release music after the death of their long-time lead guitarist Jesse Lopez in 2018.

Title track “Unseen Repulsions” begins with a quick drum roll followed by in-your-face guitar riffs and harsh, hoarse, gravelly vocals akin to those used by many Gothenburg bands in the late 90’s.

After the opening choppy guitar and drum combo ends, “Fragmented Identity” moves into fast paced thrash territory then slows down a little to a more groove orientated feel filled with flowing lead breaks and Derek’s distinct vocals.

“Searing Gas Decomposition” starts of by blasting straight into a lead guitar break, then when the acerbic vocals join in the rolling guitar riff powers on with the drums in tow and while there may be a mellow bridge, the song is predominately fast paced and aggro.

I have no idea why the title “Infinite War” reminds me of the book I read a long time ago called ‘The Forever War’, either way the song is full of quick tempo changes going from breakneck to a lumbering pace and back again with ease, as the steady kick drum gallops on.

Having never really listened to Molly Hatchet I wouldn’t’ve known “Bounty Hunter” was a cover unless it was mentioned in the notes, but they have made it their own even if the riffs do have a 70’s hard rock feel to them because the drums and vocals are pure Aggravator.

You’d be forgiven for thinking “Seven Swords” was going to be a cover of “Painkiller” for the opening 10 seconds until the guitars come in, but as this also appears to be the title track from their 2010 demo you can understand the sheer raw energy that they throw into this song, and I love the rumbling bass runs that are audible throughout.

At just over 20 minutes, this 6 track EP is a great introduction to the band, and I’m sure they’ll be releasing more when they get the chance.
