Big mouth. Big belly. Big...............ego! Since the age of 14 I have had headphones strapped to my head blasting metal, punk , goth and hippety hop. Never a genre purist I feel that the worlds musicians are merely there to provide the soundtrack to my adventures from my Norf Landan roots to my exile in the Suffolk wilderness (Ipswich).
Having spent the early part of the millennium (This one I ain't that old!) rocking the airwaves on TotalRock I can now be found presenting the MattCave every Friday night 9-Midnight under the stations new name www.bloodstockradio.com . Masochists amongst you can catch me telling bad jokes and reuniting photographers with lost lenses as the compère of the international London Tattoo Convention every summer. Inkredible!

This album was given the very brief description of Black Rock Country when I spied it in the list of ready and willing releases. Gotta say that description intrigued me. I was envisaging something like the Canadian terror country of… Continue Reading →
There were a lot of great albums released in 2023 as can be seen from Ave Noctum writers Top 20’s Here My top of the tree was occupied by two albums Going Off’s “What Makes You Tick?” and Further Into… Continue Reading →
It’s a cold, grim and rainy day. What I need to perk things right up is some Swedish Grindcore with a dirty dose of death metal added. Lurching into life in 2017 this is the third release and second full length effort from the… Continue Reading →
I’ll be honest I have never heard of A Hill to Die Upon but that is not saying much. I am no encyclopaedia or gatekeeper of all things rock and metal. They obviously have some good connections though as they have… Continue Reading →
The metal and punk worlds are dotted with prolific multi instrumentalists for whom recording and releasing new material appears to be an obsession rather than a chore. Often the adjective “mentalist” shines through out of the description due to the composer’s manic… Continue Reading →
Nostalgic Death Metal albums are like buses. You miss one then ten will turn up dressed in greasy denim and bullet belts belching songs about war and tragedy before dragging you off towards the early 90’s. Shrapnel Storm from Finland… Continue Reading →
When is a supergroup not a supergroup? I would say when it has anything to do with extreme metal. Those guys just not keep it in their pants when it comes to musical monogamy. They leap into bands like the… Continue Reading →
