Matt Mason (The Mighty One)

Big mouth. Big belly. Big...............ego! Since the age of 14 I have had headphones strapped to my head blasting metal, punk , goth and hippety hop. Never a genre purist I feel that the worlds musicians are merely there to provide the soundtrack to my adventures from my Norf Landan roots to my exile in the Suffolk wilderness (Ipswich).
Having spent the early part of the millennium (This one I ain't that old!) rocking the airwaves on TotalRock I can now be found presenting the MattCave every Friday night 9-Midnight under the stations new name www.bloodstockradio.com . Masochists amongst you can catch me telling bad jokes and reuniting photographers with lost lenses as the compère of the international London Tattoo Convention every summer. Inkredible!

Vreid – Wild North West (Season of Mist)

The tragic death of Windir frontman Valfar in January 2004 is still remembered by extreme music fans around the world. Out of that tragedy two bands were born, both of which have released a slew of albums in the ensuing years and both have releases out in early 2021. Slegest recently… Continue Reading →

Pando – Rites (Aesthetic Death)

Borstal – At Her Majesty’s Pleasure (4 Family Records)

The word Borstal will conjure up bleak and terrible images for those of a certain age. Visons of sexual assault in a potting shed and bloody violence coupled with a young Ray Winstone proclaiming himself “the Daddy” are etched in the minds of… Continue Reading →

Northmaan – Northmaan (Devfire Ent)

A brief bit of online research on Northmaan finds that this one-man project is from “the most Northernmost part of the UK”. A further bit of intrepid Googling point to this being possibly Skaw on the Shetlands.  Now, anyone expecting Northmaan’s debut to be filled with Gaelic rhythms… Continue Reading →

MNHG – Mundare (Immortal Frost Productions)

Germans MNHG are a new band –starting in the plague year 2020 and playing an old style of filth ridden Black and Roll. Fans of Sarke are gonna wanna swim in the cesspool of this quartet. By now it seems repetitive to describe Black and… Continue Reading →

Olde – Pilgrimage (Sludgelord Records)

There is something in the water. Something organic that enters your body through your ear canal, travels down the eustachian tube then fills your lungs with its viscous sludge.   Yeah, that’s right Olde got it going on!   This is the Canadian’s third album… Continue Reading →

EyeHateGod – A History of Nomadic Behaviour (Century Media)

The underground metal scene has a lot of “faces”. You know – names that hold a status that elevates them above their peers. Often these are bands that the mainstream rock-world scarcely notice – maybe see the logo on a tour poster as… Continue Reading →
