Having been bollocked by my old man for breaking his antique ‘stereogram’ with Ozzy’s ‘Bark At The Moon’ in 1984, I decided a life of metal worship was for me!
Likewise, after watching Zombie Flesheaters as a kid (early 80’s pre certification combined with an easily had over mum) and convincing myself that a zombie was more than likely in my wardrobe all night – a long and turbulent love affair with horror began. And I say turbulent as I regularly upset my horror geek mates by telling them Argento’s movies are all overrated shite. (You’d think they’d caught me fingering their mum when I tell them that).
I’m a big fan of thrash, death metal, and er….. proper 80’s poodle rock (love you Ratt) and Motorhead are the best band in the world.
Not a fan of tinny ‘recorded on a mono tape deck….. in a biscuit tin…… in the woods’ kvlt black metal.

Fleshdoll – Blood Red District (Great Dane)

This is the first time I’ve heard Fleshdoll – a French death metal crew from Toulouse. This is their fourth full length and on the strength of it I’m defo gonna be checking out their back catalogue. This is ten… Continue Reading →

Bone Gnawer – Cannibal Crematorium (Pulverised)

The names ‘Kam Lee’ & ‘Rogga Johansson’ crop up a lot in the death metal business. Both gents practically drip in death metal cred and when you see their names attached to a project it tends to be a guarantee… Continue Reading →

Incinerate – Eradicating Terrestrial Species (Comatose Music)

Seven years on from the bands second album – ‘08s ‘Anatomize’ – Incinerate are back, filling our festering lug’oles with their brutal death metal. Now, seven years might not be a long time between records…..if you’re fucking Rush, but for… Continue Reading →

Psychomancer – Inject The Worms (Orchestrated Misery Recordings)

Not exactly busy boys, Psychomancer. Their first demo was released in 1999 and since then we’ve had just two full lengths in 2001 (Si-Ko-Man-Sur) & 2007 (Butchered). This 6 track EP though is a right little cracker and if it’s… Continue Reading →

Revolting – Visages Of The Unspeakable (FDA Rekotz)

Old Rogga Johansson’s a busy bloke. This must be the third album in as many months I’ve had through that he’s played on and he makes Shane Embury look like a bit of a lazy bastard. This is their fifth… Continue Reading →

Shampoon Killer – 666 The Battle Of Discopylae (Hardbones Productions)

Oh fucking hell! I’m writing this review on the evening of 8th May 2015. The election results are in and here in the UK it looks like we’re gonna be diving headlong into another five years of Tory buffoonery. I… Continue Reading →

Embrional – The Devil Inside (Old Temple)

Another wicked discovery here! Embrional are an intense death metal band from Gliwice, Poland and have been laying down some misanthropic, Satanic slabs of evil since their first demo in 2006. ‘The Devil Inside’ is their second full length and… Continue Reading →

Undead – False Prophecies (Listenable)

Oooooh mystery! The description of this secretive 5-piece  on Facebook says ‘The lights of a legend faded in time. Our duty is to revive this dark neglected flame. We are back from the dead, among the living, among you, confide… Continue Reading →

The Grotesquery – Curse Of The Skinless Bride (Cyclone Empire)

The Grotesquery is one of what I call ‘secret bands’. Only one of my buddies (Trud) has heard of them and we both love their last two albums. It’s odd that the band aren’t more well-known seeing as they feature… Continue Reading →

Recueil Morbide – Morbid Collection (Great Dane)

France. Not the first place to that leaps to mind when you think of brutal music. Not sure why though….. The French gave us some amazingly brutal movies like ‘Inside’, ‘Frontier(s)’, ‘Vivide’ & of course ‘Martyrs’….. but musically all that… Continue Reading →

Satanic Warmaster – Fimbulwinter (Hells Headbangers / Werewolf Records)

I’m not known for my love of all things Kvlt & Blvk or whatever the angry badgers refer to themselves as these days. Black metal has always been a bit ‘take it or leave it’ for me. Some bands I… Continue Reading →

Morgoth – Ungod (Century Media)

One of the phrases I hate reading in album reviews (and I know I’ve used it myself) is ‘this album doesn’t break new ground’. Well it’s death fucking metal mate, what do you expect? A One Direction cover? Seriously! Remember… Continue Reading →
