My introduction to Metal and all things alternative came at the age of 11. I was already beginning to enjoy music and was soon pointed in the direction of Iron Maiden and Motorhead. A love of music developed from here delving into all manner of genres over the years as well as regularly attending gigs. By the time I was 16 I moved onto the heavier side of the Metallic die. It was at this point that I also wanted to give something back to the music world, I'd already failed at playing an instrument and so looked to reviewing. I started a YouTube channel in 2010 under the name ThatzNOTmetaL and over the next 5 years created a wealth of content, my music taste however was still expanding. After numerous changes and so forth I diversified into written media via a short lived e-zine called Eargore which in 2016 became a blog called Gore Crazy. Over the years I've learnt a lot about music and reviewing in general, so really I've now got my wish to give something back to the world of music that I adore.

Corpsessed – Impetus Of Death (Dark Descent)

After a debut the prospect of writing more material can seem daunting, was the first album a fluke? Can the band top it? And so forth. However there is also a grip of excitement, of pastures new and paths untrodden…. Continue Reading →

Corpsefucking Art – Splatterphobia (Comatose)

When you see Death Metal as humorous have you gone too far? The answer is probably yes, the prospect of slaughter, rape and cannibalism isn’t something one should joke about. But when it becomes an over-the-top barrage of insane ideas… Continue Reading →

Suidakra – Cimbric Yarns (AFM)

Celtic Metal, Viking Metal, Pirate Metal, there are a whole hogwash of fantastically made up genre tags that seem to bear almost no meaning. I am often infuriated when people refer to Amon Amarth, (later) Bathory and TYR as Viking… Continue Reading →

Blaze Bayley – December Wind (Blaze Bayley Recordings)

Anyone who knows me will know one thing. I love Iron Maiden, obsession doesn’t even cover it, I wear my Maiden concerts upon my sleeve like badges of honour and take great delight in regaling unfortunates in my tales of… Continue Reading →

Arsis – Visitant (Agonia)

I personally feel that Melodic Death Metal is under some sort of constant attack, and in part I can understand that. In a lot of ways I view the genre as a sort of bridging gap between underground and mainstream… Continue Reading →

Eternal Rot- Cadaverine (Godz Ov War)

All Metal genres are brutally saturated with material, from good to bad, for better or for worse. But with each good and each bad sub-genre there is an undying dedicated fan base. If you wanted to you could listen to… Continue Reading →

Iron Void – Excalibur (Shadow Kingdom)

Doom Metal might sound like the most earth shattering, misery stricken genre of music ever but there is a certain inoffensive quality about it. Having its roots firmly planted in the beginnings of Metal with Black Sabbath there is surely… Continue Reading →

Hate Eternal – Upon Desolate Sands (Season Of Mist)

Floridian Death Metal is arguably the most important stepping stone in Death Metal history. The pathway into the age of the extreme. Whilst the quest to be the heaviest still loomed Thrash was transforming and in its wake spawned Death… Continue Reading →

Kraanium – Slamchosis (Comatose Music)

I’ve talked about Slam and my love for it so many times on here you readers are probably sick of it. Is that going to stop me however? Absolutely not. Since the end of my high school days I have… Continue Reading →

Esoctrilihum – Inhüma (I, Voidhanger)

How long should an artist wait before releasing a new album? Is a consistent output merely the result of quantity over quality or is it a feasible expectation to demand new music sooner. If we look to the past and… Continue Reading →

Vanhelgd – Deimos Sanktuarium (Pulverised)

There are certain achievements that bands seem to hold in high regard, anniversaries, number of releases and so forth. Naturally this sort of egotistical self-awarding comes with a sort of uprising from fans whereby they equally appear to share the… Continue Reading →
