My introduction to Metal and all things alternative came at the age of 11. I was already beginning to enjoy music and was soon pointed in the direction of Iron Maiden and Motorhead. A love of music developed from here delving into all manner of genres over the years as well as regularly attending gigs. By the time I was 16 I moved onto the heavier side of the Metallic die. It was at this point that I also wanted to give something back to the music world, I'd already failed at playing an instrument and so looked to reviewing. I started a YouTube channel in 2010 under the name ThatzNOTmetaL and over the next 5 years created a wealth of content, my music taste however was still expanding. After numerous changes and so forth I diversified into written media via a short lived e-zine called Eargore which in 2016 became a blog called Gore Crazy. Over the years I've learnt a lot about music and reviewing in general, so really I've now got my wish to give something back to the world of music that I adore.

Festerday – Iihtallan (Season Of Mist)

The world is full of bands who never see the light of day and equally full of bands who never get around to releasing a full length album. Some of these bands lay forgotten forever more, others become woven into… Continue Reading →

Feral – Flesh For Funerals Eternal (Transcending Obscurity)

Swedish Death Metal has a very distinct sound about it popularized in the 90’s by bands such as Entombed, Dismember and Carnage to name but a few. This riff heavy, muddy, filth covered style has inspired bands the world over… Continue Reading →

Dødsferd – Diseased Remnants Of A Dying World (Transcending Obscurity)

For all my metallic ramblings you would be forgiven in thinking that all I care about in the realms of extremity is Death Metal. This is certainly not the case, I love almost all genres of Metal and if we… Continue Reading →

Demonbreed – Hunting Heretics (Testimony Records)

When we think of Death Metal what exactly springs to mind. In an age where almost every artist can be boxed into an unending array of genres how does one achieve sole dedication to one tag? It is almost comical… Continue Reading →

Calcined – Discipline (Great Dane)

Yet again I am here to bring you more Death Metal and this time I wish to answer the question what makes Death Metal so appealing? Well to be frank all genres of Metal are ridiculously broad so as far… Continue Reading →

Deth Crux – Mutant Flesh (Aural)

Being a music nerd is more than being into one genre. As broad as Metal can be I cannot limit myself to that alone, and I’m not talking about dipping a toe into the likes of AC/DC, Rush or other… Continue Reading →

Mass Infection – Shadows Became Flesh (Comatose)

To actually be just one genre nowadays is pretty difficult, especially with the rise of the sort of Bandcamp generation that is hell-bent on creating new tags daily which latterly become sub-sub-sub genres. Really it’s all a bit crazy but… Continue Reading →

Ichor – Hadal Ascending (Unholy Conspiracy Deathwork)

There is nothing like a little escapism in film or literature, so why should music be any different. I am often met with sniggers or chuckles when I mention Power Metal or the wild worlds of the mighty Bal-Sagoth but… Continue Reading →

Lividity – Perverseverance (Metal Age Productions)

When you get into Brutal Death Metal you have to be ready for a whole new shock factor. If you thought that your mum washing your Morbid Angel shirt back in the day was bad then imagine how she would… Continue Reading →

Master – Vindictive Miscreant (Transcending Obscurity)

What came first the Death or the Black? And other age old Metal questions with variable answers that have no doubt caused a riot of arguments across internet forums over the years. Yet it is to Death Metal we look… Continue Reading →

Wurm Flesh – Excoriation Evisceration (Comatose)

How much more can I rant on about Brutal Death Metal? Probably a whole lot more, and I won’t stop until all reading this are polishing their Slam hammers and awaiting their first Waking The Cadaver gig. Any how as… Continue Reading →

Obliteration – Cenotaph Obscure (Indie)

Norway placed itself upon the metallic map with its infamous Black Metal scene, something which really took Metal to new Extreme heights. Yet beneath all that there is a rich Death Metal scene. Even Darkthrone’s debut Soulside Journey took a… Continue Reading →
