My introduction to Metal and all things alternative came at the age of 11. I was already beginning to enjoy music and was soon pointed in the direction of Iron Maiden and Motorhead. A love of music developed from here delving into all manner of genres over the years as well as regularly attending gigs. By the time I was 16 I moved onto the heavier side of the Metallic die. It was at this point that I also wanted to give something back to the music world, I'd already failed at playing an instrument and so looked to reviewing. I started a YouTube channel in 2010 under the name ThatzNOTmetaL and over the next 5 years created a wealth of content, my music taste however was still expanding. After numerous changes and so forth I diversified into written media via a short lived e-zine called Eargore which in 2016 became a blog called Gore Crazy. Over the years I've learnt a lot about music and reviewing in general, so really I've now got my wish to give something back to the world of music that I adore.

Nocturnal Breed – We Only Came For The Violence (Folter)

I would struggle to think of a new genre of Metal that has had as much of an impact as Black Metal has had. Sure you have Nu-Metal, Deathcore, Metalcore and even Groove Metal but all of these genres have… Continue Reading →

Urn – Iron Will Of Power (Season Of Mist)

To talk about politics at the moment in the UK is a touchy subject and one that I can be quite passionate about when in the right company. Backing this up my home town of Ipswich (check it out, great… Continue Reading →

Keitzer – Where The Light Ends (F.D.A. Records)

Being a band known for worship can pay off, I can’t quite say what makes it okay to imitate someone’s style but from time to time it just works. Yet I have spoken before with friends about various bands and… Continue Reading →

Crypt Sermon – The Ruins Of Fading Light (Dark Descent)

It’s a bit of a running thing with myself that I am ‘that Death Metal guy’ Goregeous George, Slam King these are titles I’ve been accredited with by various people over the years, but there is far more to my… Continue Reading →

Visceral Disgorge – Slithering Evisceration (Agonia)

I’m having a whale of a time right now, 2019 is one of the strongest years for music in a long time. I’ve divulged into so much from the killer records of Rammstein, Tool and Equipoise to Pop records and… Continue Reading →

Horrific Demise – Excruciating Extermination (Comatose)

I’ve said it a million times on here but I love Death Metal, and 2019 is proving to be one hell of a year for the genre. I honestly think that right now there has never been a better time… Continue Reading →

Runespell – Voice Of Opprobrium (Iron Bonehead)

When I woke up this morning I was so happy, it was finally raining. I’m not sure how you readers feel about the weather but as a recent convert to preferring the winter I have to confess this change in… Continue Reading →

Devourment – Obscene Majesty (Relapse)

Music is perhaps the most powerful form of media, it can help you through hard times, give you a sense of nostalgia, help you grow. Whatever the case may be it’s undeniable that some form of music will impress you… Continue Reading →

Alcoholocaust – Necro Apocalipse Bestial (Hellprod)

Black Metal, the truest of the true, or at least in my mind anyway. The early Norwegian days of the 90’s were a breeding ground for the true and false debate. To my knowledge prior to that Metalheads simply accepted… Continue Reading →

Keys Of Orthanc – A Battle In The Dark Lands Of The Eye… (Naturmacht)

I’m going to go ahead and be completely self-indulgent for a moment. When I get to review a second release from an artist in a row it really fills me with a sense of joy. As if I’m a part… Continue Reading →

Entombed A.D. – Bowels Of Earth (Century Media)

Naturally bands have splits, crucial members leave and new pastures follow yet sometimes things become irreparable. Yet in recent times often the splits have led to renamed acts under a similar moniker. I tend to try and view this as… Continue Reading →

Necronautical – Apotheosis (Candlelight)

When you’re blessed with a strong local scene it is easy to become blasé towards smaller touring bands. I mean this with the greatest respect but you see local gigs as ‘good nights out’ as oppose to the fact that… Continue Reading →
