From the Godz ov War extreme metal factory come Abominated. This death metal band formed five years ago in Poland. Their stated intention was that of “digging out the rotten sounds the Swedish were providing in the early 90s”.

I opened the packaging and the first lyric I saw was “Bind – Torture – Kill”. That’s from “Merciless Aggression” First we must experience “Forbidden Pleasures of Self-Immolation”. Instead of being hit in the balls straightaway, we’re led into it. The bass riff is deep and sets the tone. The tempo is increased and the harsh vocals that we have to expect from Polish death metal bands is prominent. I like the structure of “Forbidden Pleasures of Self-Immolation”. It’s exciting and has the drive of a chain saw but split up by clever drum patterns and bucking guitars. Oh, and it ends with a gunshot to reinforce the line “Only suicide will let me free”. It’s a temporary state as the band has the job of chewing us up with more directness and brutality in the form of “Stench of Life”. There’s no stopping Abomination. It’s fast and hard and exciting. Next is “The Mutated Mass”. The rhythm is dirty and growls while the drummer goes hard at a thousand revs a minute.

“Merciless Aggression” starts with menace. Any pretensions of subtlety are replaced by relentless instrumental bombing. There is a fleeting reduction of tempo near the end but anger and aggression are what it’s all about really. “Murder – Chaos – Torture” are the bywords of “Sacrificial Defilement”, the next all-out attack on the senses. The wheels are well and truly oiled as Abomination continue their brutal representation of mass bloodshed, violence and malevolence without delay or allowances for time to breathe. The title song “Traumatic Putrefaction” puts us through the meat grinder while we are simultaneously on the receiving end of a machine gun. This is not for the weak. “Senseless Barbaric Insemination” starts in more measured fashion but is soon beating our brains out while getting inside us with the deep riff. It does slow down to allow headbanging time but finishing with the words of the song title, the message is as harsh as the music. “Blasphemous Convocation” continues the carnage. It is typically fiery, powerful and uncompromising. The guitar work is fluid and exciting. After an ominous start, “Slave to Depravity” fires up and drums, guitar and vocalist combine to give us one final blast of heavy death metal artillery.

Not a second is wasted. Abominated do not deviate from their brutal path. They are unstoppable. “Traumatic Putrefaction” is exhilarating.
