This two piece band from Italy ventured across my path with their 2015 debut album ‘Endless Torment’ where I was introduced to this bands old school death metal style, that in truth I had heard many times before and done much better. The follower ‘About The Prophecy’ was definitely better with a more rounded sound and edging the drum programing towards a more organic tone but still markedly old school in its delivery. The duo of Luca and Marco Bellante comprising this band has Luca primarily responsible for the musicianship leaving the deathly bellows to Marco.

Noticeably there is a substantial improvement in the sound when you first listen to their third album, it has a much better drum programming tone and if you didn’t know you’d think it was an actual drummer playing on the album. Kicking off with ‘I Hate’ the band has adopted a dense sound with very little high end in the mix, making the listening experience claustrophobic to a degree. There is added complexity here too, the opener offering plenty of riff changes and tempo variations expertly constructed by Luca as ‘Prophet’s Shit’ follows the opener. Being similar to the opener affords great continuity as I appreciated the thudding bass drum effect the band has generated giving it a far more authentic death metal tone.

With an eerie opening ‘Rage From The Dead’ gives some brief respite before thundering down into blasting segues as the riffing has a slight blackened edge to it, again ingraining everything with fluid riff changes to ensure excellent variation. Distortion led ‘I Bring Chaos’ is a bombarding tune, the blast beat extremely well controlled, well defined and piercing the mix without it degenerating into a blurring tinny mess. I really like the vocals on this release, and whilst there are plenty of quality death metal vocalists around, it is those that have an intrinsic animalistic and beastly bellow that really get your attention as Marco does here. ‘Oblivion’ is groove laden monster, double bass type patterns crafting a catchier approach as I relished the slower aspects of the album, delivering that gut churning density we all like about the genre.

The Morbid Angel inspired ‘From Father To Sun’ has a quality drum beginning followed by a catchy riff, as you can’t help but notice the high velocity guitar work running rampant through it. The closing doublet is ‘Blood’ and ‘Bоина’, the latter of which translates as ‘War’ from Russian. You’ve only to look back at the previous two releases to know that the duo likes to use different languages on their song titles. ‘Blood’ has a blackened feel again, it’s slithering pace and chug like riff provides a foundation for the onslaught to come with a raft of changes added via the riffing or the speed. ‘Bоина’ concludes here and is slightly longer than the other tracks, with a slower more menacing style surrounding a creepy morose guitar riff. I really liked the pulsing kick drum insertion effect, it focuses the songs intent superbly as it funnels towards the expected blast incursion but saturated in a dread like ethos in tone.

A fine third slab of old school death metal by Dead Twilight, one worth hunting down and giving a listen for sure.
