Seattle is the home of Re-Buried, a five piece Death Metal band whose inception dates back to 2018 but whose debut album is due for release later this month via Translation Loss records, who are unleashing ‘Repulsive Nature’ on LP.
Re-Buried right from the off delivery a cacophonous racket of punishing, frantic drumming, dark and seething riffs and rumbling, bone crunching bass tones, topped off by thunderous growls that sound like they emanate from some dismal and dank cave.
Rather than the churning out a typical US sounding Death Metal release, Re-Buried harness the gloom, solitude and damp weather of their North-West home and channel it all into a richer, more furious and some might say a more European sounding slab of intensive, claustrophobic sound; a real catacomb dwelling beast of furious, lingering Death Metal aggression that can be groove drenched and glide slowly like molasses, such as title track ‘Repulsive Nature’, or could manifest itself in a tirade of chugging riffs and crushing drum tones as in ‘Planetary Obliteration’, a track incidentally that has a gorgeous slice of technical guitar melody laced through its darkened fabric, similar in style to some of Nile’s work.
‘Repulsive Nature’ is an album that reveals more of its brooding dark secrets to you the more you listen to it, and the further you venture under its bleak and oppressive canopy, the stronger and more pulsating the album becomes. A really primal bout of churning, writing Death Metal from up in the bleak North-West.
