These Finns have been pumping (giggedy) out their signature brand of pornodeath Grind since 1989. That is a helluva long time in such an extreme niche. In fact, I think that is over a century in PDG years. This is only their seventh full length emission and the first since 2014’s deliciously titled “Fistament”. Despite an intro that reminded me of Fields of the Neph “Harmonica Man” opener “Every Hole Dripping” sets out the band’s excreta and cream pie-soaked stall early doors.
22 tracks with titles like “Mick Shagger”, “Frozen Clit” and “I gave her an Orgasm she can’t refuse” blast through in a mere 32 minutes. Yes, it is juvenile and a little hackneyed and puerile but they are good at what they do. Each track hits like a freight train filled with rancid semen and the deep throated gurgle vocals are just as hard hitting and fetid. Short blasts of drums and razor-sharp riffs keep things neat and tidy and the production is surprisingly tight and lush.
There are only two sub 20 second grind throwbacks the Aforementioned Mick Shagger and Mazophallate. The fact that both of which manage to get some groove and headbanging in their blink and you’ll miss it track lengths says something about the band’s craftsmanship.
As with most bands in the Porno and Death Grind oeuvre, Inferia stay a lot more into the Metal world than into the Hardcore punk of Grinds forebearers. This means that things are tight and bombastic rather than splashy and haphazard so are a little polished for my tastes. That is a personal thing though and takes nothing away from this delightful pustule of an album. (C)Untitled is a thrashy crossover instrumental that could come from a Sacred Reich album – a proper skate shorts mosh pit stomper if ever I have heard one.
It may make me feel old and a bit sullied (and a little guilty due to the track titles) but I enjoyed this dip in this Finnish glory hole. Off for a shower now.
