This is the bit in the review where your scribe tells you what they know about the band: They are Australian. They play melodic/atmospheric black metal.

Well there we are.

Three tracks. A little over twenty-three minutes. Nice art.

‘Azure; Frozen’ begins its 11-minute length with gentle, melancholy keyboards that once more remind me so much of one of those brooding VNV Nation intros. The piano pushes through and we build to the crash of a riff, a howl and a drum thunder. It rolls and crashes nicely, the melody rising in a chilly, undulating and circular way. The vocals have that early Solefald style I feel and when they become clean they raise an epic element to the song. It’s really rather excellent. Maybe sometimes the melody gets a little obtrusive but the raging vocals kind of balance that nicely. Deft and bombastic in the best way.

‘Hallowed Sky’ adds another ten minutes, a second long intro. The style is the same as the first; strong melody pulling the song forward with gloriously unhinged vocals savaging the background. It has a turbulence to it that appeals, too, storm clouds rolling, winds rising kind of feel.

Things come to a coda with ‘Silver Starfall’, a short, placid instrumental, a breather after the storms with a folk-like lilt to the guitar picking.

For me this is a nice introduction to the band: Flowing, full of atmosphere and just a solid squall of black metal. Take a listen, you’ll probably enjoy it.
