Formed in 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal, the quintet comprising of drummer Miguel Nunes, lead guitarist Eduardo Cunha, rhythm guitarist António Tavares, vocalist Alexandre Fernandes and bassist Pedro Fernandes are releasing this 4 track EP through Raging Planet.
As the EP’s just shy of 20 minutes, they don’t have time to waste with unnecessary fluff and dive straight in to “Glorybringer” with a groovy, heavy guitar riff over a strong but steady drum beat and slow, gruff vocals.
Keeping a similar pace at first, “Deceiver” adds a lot more anger to the vocal delivery, until after a sequence of drum rolls to slow things down a little more, a flowing lead comes in to take us toward the final verse.
“Ad Nauseum” is filled with venom, as the lyrics are spat out over the doomy riff as hoarse screams with a lead that’s more in your face and hard to ignore.
I wasn’t aware until about 20 years ago that the version of Mad Max I grew up watching had been edited to death (read censored as fuck), but I’ll never forget “Nightrider” announcing himself before that epic chase scene ensues… and this is how this song starts, with a heavy drum beat at twice the pace of anything else on the album and a furious riff that has the vocals double timing things to keep up. and a great lead to show they aren’t all about slow heavy doom songs.
Granted there are only 4 songs on here, but this is EP is a great taster of what I’m sure shall be more coming, & you can give it a listening to on Bandcamp, so you have nothing to lose there.
