Everyone know this lot right? So without further ado, I can basically sum up by saying the formula still works, it’s a lockdown survival record, make yourself happy and listen to this album…..
Chris Black and co continue to release infectious music in the traditional sense and scene. Each track is ablaze is melody and feeling. The heavier side of them doesn’t over indulge itself, the general feel you get a quality, pure and simple.
The whole album kicks your memory into gear, but particular highlights include ‘Since You’ve Been Gone’, ‘Hearts Will Burn’ and ‘All Night Long’. For those who may recognise a couple of titles, no they are not Rainbow covers. ‘Hearts Will Burn’ is vibrant at its start, Thin Lizzy updated and energised by a million percent. ‘All Night Long’ has some wondrous melody in the guitar riffing, the vocal is a nice story. ‘Face to Face’, reminds me of UFO, you will know when you hear. The harmonies are great and I would really recommend checking out ‘Midnight Sun’ that’s all you need to get my meaning, listen to the guitar tone on the solo, is that synth driven? It’s a really cool effect and “singing the world its lullaby” is a nice vocal line too.
I find it tough to say anything different about High Spirits, they are an amazing band and the music gets better all the time. You know what you will get, the quality is always very high, the delivery is amazing and the way they hold and present infectious melody is unique in modern times. Come on, if you have been miserable lately, give this a spin, you’ll be swinging yer hips soon enough.
