Seven tracks, twenty five minutes, old school death metal…… what’s not to like? Well…. Not much actually as this is a total blast and another win for Transcending Obscurity that has an absolutely stellar roster of bands.

Burial Remains formed as  Miasma of Guilt in 2016. Following a line up change Burial Remains came into being at the end of 2017. Very much inspired by the early DM scene and bands such as Autopsy, Bolt Thrower and the fuzzed up grime of early Grave & Dismember this is the debut album of the Dutch / German four piece and is a total blast. Mixed and mastered by Jonny Pettersson of Wombbath / Heads For The Dead and featuring guest vocals by Ralf Hauber of Revel In Flesh, Heads For The Dead, this is a tasty slab of death metal that really hits the spot with the dirty HM2 soaked guitars, fire-bomb drumming and slimy but slick  vocals this is everything you’d want from an OSDM release.

Opening with “Crucifixion Of The Vanquished” the band rag you round the room like a pitbull in a playground and don’t let up until the end of track seven…. Which is a storming cover of Kreator’s “Tormentor”.  The title track and the slow(er) and heavy “March Of The Undead” are my favourite tracks but all of the songs have enough going on to keep your death metal glands squeezed.

This is a cracking release and one of the best old school death metal albums of the year.  It’s brutal, dirty and totally crushes.
