Power Fuel are a thrash metal band from Picardy in France. This is their third album and for some reason they’ve chosen to release a record consisting of ten Slayer covers….
Now I’m not against cover versions but a whole fucking albums worth just tells me the band a creatively bankrupt. Look at Six Feet Under with their bullshit ‘Graveyard Classics’ series. Utter bollocks.
Still, it is what it is.
Ten Slayer songs (though nothing from ‘Hell Awaits’ or ‘Show No Mercy’), competently played. You know all the tracks and there’s no surprises apart from how they’re totally mangled by vocalist Ben Laurence. His throaty death metal style vocals turn what was a pants idea in the first place into an ‘orrible experience. Honestly. Like I said before, I don’t mind covers but only if the band do something different with the song – hell, even listening to Chris Barnes butcher the Kiss classic ‘War Machine’ had a certain offensive charm to it but this is just bollocks. I don’t wanna diss the band as they can clearly play but this is thrash metal karaoke tosh.

Wow, that was concise and to the point sir. I guess I won’t be rushing out to purchase this one for the collection.
