Under ten minutes worth of music on this 4 track split EP but don’t worry about that, what it lacks for time wise it makes up for in other ways! Both bands here are at the very extreme electronic side of things and are designed to caustically rip your ears off and send the unsuspecting running home to their mamas.
Drugzilla are a band that I have heard knocking around for quite some time but unfortunately never quite managed to hear or see live yet. They are the anti or negative side of Conchúir O’ Drona From The Bogs Of Bogs of Aughiska but don’t go expecting a shred of mercy or breather of ambience here. We are in a land where it sounds like the living dead are coming back to life judging the samples which make up for any vocal output here. Nasty noise shrilly flows out the speakers as we ‘Face The Feast Of Powder’ what that powder is, is uncertain but probably bath salts and someone’s been snorting them. It’s very short and abrasive before a low humming throb, sonic contortions, more samples and a barrage of electronic pulses knocks you flat. A final sample reminds me of the bearded presenter on ‘Dawn Of The Dead’ telling us that we pretty much have no hope before it finishes in a very unsettling fashion.
Scat Injector are an outfit I have encountered before causing mayhem with the likes of Leech Woman and being played at Sick And Twisted nights. You may have come across lovely slabs of hate such as ‘Her Mangled Cunt’ from them before and that should give you a clue that they are not very nice at all! Things get skatty very quickly on ‘Post Coital Strangulation’ as clanking machinery broods in and we are injected with massive gabba beats and snarly horrifying contorted vocals. Its lots of beats per minutes (I’m not able to count) and subtle as a bomb. To dance to this you would need more than bath salts that’s for sure. Tempo changes and we go faster at a drill and bass frantic approach that suggests the band dig holes for a living and never quite manage to get their jobs done quickly enough. No problems with that here if you put this on repeat and attempt any of those chores you’ve been putting off you will get them done in treble the time. Ouch my head.
