This is quite an elusive band…little is known of them…and the stigma and buzz around them at the moment and in recent months has been spectacular if not close to hero worship. I for one am usually sceptical when so many sheep like followers join forces and proclaim this is cool, however, I must report that you must believe in the hype, this is a stunning record.
If you fail to get the doomy groove with tracks like ‘Death’s Door’ and the even more dreamy upbeat teachings of ‘I’ll Cut You Down’, then at least I would have tried to convert you, it’s your loss quite frankly. The vocals from the anonymous individual Uncle Acid have a very eerie and vintage sound. If you have heard the recent output by Castle or even sounds as far back as the Beatles changeover album ‘Revolver’, then you may fathom this one out. They are wonderfully cool and the tone cuts through you leaving you immersed in the music’s dark groovy atmosphere. This is the hook with this release, this vintage sound, this laid back approach sounds so simple and it sounds so right.
I still cannot fathom why releases by this band and others on the same label command stupid, ridiculous prices on a well-known auction site for the LP versions when they are available at a reasonable price from the label, supply and demand I guess! But still, if you did not pre-order the vinyl version you will most likely be out of luck by now, but there are other formats available in which to embrace this glorious piece of music that is like a fine wine (or whiskey!) that gets better with age. Upon your first listen you’re hooked, upon multiple listens you will adore this; it is truly a magical album. I for one cannot wait for the new material due out around March next year.
‘Blood Lust’ is a genuine piece of classic occult doom rock and no matter what you want to call it or label it, this is one of my albums of the year and there is genuinely not a single poor track on the release. Every tune will have an imprint carved into your mind, the music sounds timeless and that is the way this will remain.

Got my copy, well copies, and was cheaper to ship from the states then buy from a UK retailer; weird, eh? Good CD mind you.
